Who is Laura?

How I got started..

In 2013 I started working at Indigo Ranch, a non profit dog boarding facility and farm animal rescue. After 6 months I became the Resident Manager at Indigo Ranch. Taking dogs in and out, morning and night, as well as working shift and caring for farm animals. I would say, the hardest part...losing them when they crossed the rainbow bridge. The best part? Figuring out how some of them 'ticked'. Many of them were rescues, which meant they may have behavioral issues of some kind or possibly separation anxiety. I would strive to help them feel comfortable, safe and loved. Its a great feeling when they settle in and relax.

I was fortunate enough to work there for 8 and a half years.

When I was a little girl, I always had a dog or dogs around, ALWAYS. I ~loved~ them. (Even after being bit in the face as a toddler.) There is something about them. Their ability to be in the moment, unconditional, turning any moment into the BEST moment that there EVER was, EVER! Lol. How could you <not> fall in love with them?

I remember wanting a "farm of dogs" when I was young. It seemed the "ultimate dream". Dogs all over. Everywhere. lol. I cannot imagine not living this life without them.

I started WetFur because I love dogs. I get so much joy out of helping parents feel at ease when they go on vacation, the ability to help them exhale when they drive away is my goal. Its a big deal. Our dogs are our lives, our best friends, soulmates and family.

Isn't it important to feel completely comfortable in where you choose to have them stay?

WetFur is located In Sandy, Oregon, in our home. In 2021 we were lucky enough to purchase a 1930s Henry Steiner log home. It sits on almost 6 acres, right on Cedar creek. There is a fenced yard, meandering little stream through the property,  as well as a beautful wooded trail.

We are 23 miles from PDX and 27 miles to Mt.Hood ski bowl. Our home sits only 1.5 miles from Hwy 26, a quick on and off! Super convienient!

(Who wouldn't want to stay here!?)

My true feeling about dog care is very simple, treat dogs with the uttemost respect and love that they so deserve. And treat their parents like family. Because this is so much more than a business.

Like Kahlil Gibran said, " Friendship is a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity." That is exactly how I feel. If you are a client, you are a friend. And your beloved fur baby is my sweet responsibility.

Looking forward to adding to my family!
